چکیده

The fi rst checklist of lappet moths (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) of Croatia, containing 20 species is presented. For each species, a distribution map is given containing literature records and some new records. Only one species, Cosmotriche lobulina (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), is represented with a single record, and all other species have 3 or more records. No signifi cant increase in the number of species is expected in the future, but the known distribution of almost all species will probably be expanded. For each species, historical and new vernacular names are also presented. Lasiocampidae, moths, diversity, checklist

Complete mitochondrial genome of the lappet moth, Kunugia undans (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae): genomic comparisons among macroheteroceran superfamilies

The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) characteristics of the monotypic Lasiocampoidea are largely unknown, because only limited number of mitogenomes is available from this superfamily. In this study, we sequenced the complete mitogenome of the lappet moth, Kunugia undans (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) and compared it to those of Lasiocampoidea and macroheteroceran superfamilies (59 species in si...

Differences in Foliage Affect Performance of the Lappet Moth, Streblote panda: Implications for Species Fitness

Implications for adults' fitness through the foliage effects of five different host plants on larval survival and performance of the lappet moth, Streblote panda Hübner (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae), as well as their effect on species fitness were assayed. Larvae were reared under controlled laboratory conditions on excised foliage. Long-term developmental experiments were done using first insta...

PHYSIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL ECOLOGY Effects of Phenolic Glycosides and Protein on Gypsy Moth (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) and Forest Tent Caterpillar (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) Performance and Detoxication Activities

Levels of phenolic glycosides and protein inßuence the quality of aspen leaves to herbivorous insects, and vary in relation to genetic and environmental factors. This research was conducted to assess the independent and interactive effects of phenolic glycosides and protein on the performance and detoxication enzyme activities of gypsy moths, Lymantria dispar (L.), and forest tent caterpillars,...
